Who are Buddy & Bob?

BUDDY ROSENBAUM  /  BOB CHASE

Seventy-one-year-old Dr. Bernard Rosenbaum – entrepreneur, psychologist, motorcycle rider – spent his life chasing adventure and he’s not about to stop now.

First bitten by the motorcycling bug as a six-year-old watching his neighbor repair and ride his classic Indian, Buddy, as he prefers to be called, since fueled his passion for two-wheeled adventure by motorcycling everywhere from sprawling Tunisian deserts to the towering peaks of the Himalayas. Embodying the phrase “70 is the new 50,” Dr. Rosenbaum’s next venture will take him on a nearly 3400-mile trek along the Lincoln Highway, the first coast-to-coast road built in America.

He and long-time travel companion Bob Chase will start in San Francisco June 13 and end in New York City’s Times Square four weeks later. The duo will journey on a pair of fuel-thrifty, three-wheeled Piaggio MP3 scooters. Piaggio is a leader in alternative transportation.

Buddy’s adventurous side complements his intellectual pursuits and career path.

He retired in 2000 after selling the executive leadership consulting firm he started in 1974, MOHR Development, Inc., to a Fortune 500 company. Eager to spread his specialized brand of knowledge, he also taught psychology at the City University of New York and New York University during the 1970s and ‘80s.

He graduated from Columbia University in 1971 with a doctoral degree in industrial and organizational psychology.

Dr. Rosenbaum believes strongly in the concept of giving back. As a native New Yorker, he supports the Central Park Conservancy and public broadcasting. With his international experience, he also supports the work of Doctors Without Borders.

Born May 28, 1937 in New York, NY, Buddy’s three sons have made him a proud grandfather of four. Still at home in New York City, Buddy lives with his wife of 48 years, Linda, with whom he shares his love of motorcycling and the arts. He still consults from time to time.
