Started the day with a 0900hr MT visit to Steve & Roxanne Eddins’ Piaggio dealership in Ft. Collins, CO. Steve & Roxanne, like Chuck & Melanie Barber in Orem, UT are a married couple totally committed to their dealership, motorcycles, scooters and —most of all — their customers. They are another model of a customer focused team. You don’t have to be an organizational psychologist to know here’s a couple who derive enormous satisfaction from building their business. When a reporter asked me to what I attribute my 48 year marriage, my response was shared interests. I predict that Steve & Roxanne have many happy years ahead.

We had the pleasure of meeting a number of their customers — including Bob & Alice Austin — who were eager to learn all they could about crossing the Lincoln Highway - this may be the early phase of Bob’s sale cycle with Alice. Patrick Barczewski —another happy Eddins’ customer — is a manufacturer’s rep for camping goods. He’ll be hearing from us when we prepare for our next camping tour.

To our delight a TomTom service van pulled up & out came Mike Byersdoerfer eager to resolve our GPS power issue. Mike, in combination with Steve’s expertise, solved Bob’s connection problem. Mine remained troublesome, but when I returned after lunch, Dr. Steve went back to it and saved the day. He localized the problem to a loose connector, soldered and cleaned the tips of the GPS connectors, added some dielectric grease and WHAMMO — a charging GPS. We also relocated the TomTom to a RAM mount for better visibility.
We’ve now no excuses for failing to locate all sections of America’s Main Street.

We ate a terrific afternoon lunch at Coopersmith’s in Old Town, Ft. Collins. Leihi (from Hawaii) took good care, making sure we ate our veggies. Thanks to the efforts of local citizens and the city’s historic preservation program, we were able to stroll back through time to the town’s earliest days throughout the Old Town.

Brother-In-Law Steven Kane from Prescott, AZ, joined us today on his macho-sized 1200cc bike. I suspected he was ready to see two old guys struggling across the USA on…er…"scooters", but while Steven napped Bob & I squeezed in a late afternoon ride.
Tomorrow (Today - ED) we are scheduled for a noon appearance at the Fay Myers’ Piaggio dealership in Greenwood Village, a Denver suburb. Steve Eddins outlined an exciting route filled with twisties & sweepers. I hope Steven, with his 1200cc’s, can keep up.
Buddy out
