We suppose it’s just that Lincoln Highway time of year, what with the Lincoln Highway Association Conference happening and whatnot. Whatever the reason, it’s wonderful that Buddy and Bob hooked up with kindred spirits from Pittsburgh’s PBS affiliate WQED during the making of their Lincoln Highway documentary. The boys have mentioned their near miss and eventual reconnection with Rick and Bob from WQED. Rick’s returned the favor in his own blog. It’s definitely worth a look, and we can’t wait to see the finished doc. Check out Rick’s musings on our gentlemen here.

Buddy and Bob,
You’re getting closer to the Illinois section — which is the only part that has received a National Scenic Byway designation. My husband, Bill, and I are looking forward to seeing you both when you get here. I really enjoyed meeting you at the conference in Wyoming. You are truly an inspiration. Bill is looking forward to retiring someday (hopefully not TOO soon!) and has really taken an interest in the MP3 — he saw the pics on the original article done in New York before you began your trek. Maybe we could meet for breakfast or lunch in Dixon (west of DeKalb) and follow you on into your stop in DeKalb? Let me know what you think. You have my office number and my cell, I believe. Looking forward to hearing from you. Be safe!!

Diane: Meeting you in Evanston was our pleasure and we look forward to the possibility of meeting your husband Bill as well. As we get closer to Dixon we call you to see if there is a fit on timing for all of us.
Best Regards,
Bob
Bob,
Actually, I was wondering if we could meet up with you in Dixon at their Welcome Center which houses our Lincoln Highway Interpretive Center. Then, we could possibly follow you in to DeKalb. You could call me when you get into Fulton (in Illinois on the Mississippi River) and we could go from there. Hope all is going well and you both are feeling fine. I’ll wait to hear from you about meeting in Dixon. Debbie Armstrong in DeKalb is ready for your arrival in DeKalb on Thursday afternoon. You both are not only making a wonderful name for the Piaggio MP3, but also bringing much needed attention to the nation’s first transcontinental highway — the Lincoln Highway. Thank you for that! Talk to you soon — be safe…
