Long day. Lots of activity at the Lincoln Highway Terminus: other riders, lots of photos and TV interviews, that we were naive about. We finally left the city at about 4PM. Hit HEAVY traffic–Davey Johnson (from Piaggio Ground Control - ED) followed in an SUV taking more video for the live feed. We finally arrived in Sacramento at 8PM. Few photo opportunities on our part, but the pros more than made up for that. Davey will be following us into Reno tomorrow taking video. We intend to take some photos and see if we’re successful in getting them to Alex Roy at Ground Control.
For the most part we followed the Lincoln Highway route out of San Francisco. It was far too late to take a few of the back roads to Sacramento. The focus was the launch–which we hope went well–and not the road experience.
The Piaggio MP3’s continue to impress us as well as MANY bystanders. We are completely comfortable with them & our large aggressive motorcycles have faded into memories. They truly ride like they were made for this trip.
In a few days we will have the "beat". We await the routine to establish itself so photos, video & comments will flow smoothly. For us the day’s highlight was the full confirmation that the MP3’s will enable Bob & I to "keep going" & retain our passion for the open road.
